Yvonne Choi
I am an English teacher for adults with a
CELTA Certificate (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Cambridge with a Pass A grade, an IH Certificate in Teaching Business English, and an IH Certificate in Teaching One-to-One from the International House World Organization.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles and am a native English speaker. I was moved to the Netherlands in 2011 for my job as a Contract Manager, and I met my Dutch husband thereafter.
I understand what it is like to learn a new language as an adult–the frustration, anxiety, and excitement–and I use that knowledge to inform my method of teaching to help you learn in a supported and useful way.
Experience
With over 15 years of experience in a corporate setting and a lifetime of loving the English language, I have been, and still am, teaching through different language institutes around the Netherlands.
I have taught General English at all levels in groups, and I have taught Business English individually, in groups, and on site for companies including those in the entertainment, financial, and government industries.
Additional options include conversation classes, accent reduction classes, and intensive courses for presentation skills.
I am available online and in person.
What to Expect
I focus on tailoring sessions to the students to ensure that they learn English in a fun, safe, and interactive environment.
I am available for:
- in-person lessons in Amsterdam
- in-person courses around the Netherlands, travel costs TBD
- online classes via Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams
- individual and group lessons
